The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP) is a free video player for PDAs using the Palm OS and Windows Mobile operating systems . There is now a version for Windows computers. It is particularly popular on PDAs with PalmOS because its high speed enables smooth playback of most videos. In addition to video playback, various audio formats can also be played. Before version 0.70, a plug-in for playing AAC files was included, which is no longer included in the last versions 0.71 and 0.72rc for licensing reasons and has to be downloaded separately.

The TCPMP is now available as a purchase version under the name "CorePlayer". In addition to improved streaming support, the current version 1.5 (as of 02/07) should also include H.264 (AVC), AAC , DivX , Xvid and MIDI files on the Pocket PC , Windows Mobile , Smartphone , Palm OS and Symbian platforms can play. Since the start of sales, the original homepage with the download options of TCPMP and the additional plugins has been offline.

In addition to the PalmOS plug-ins (extension .prc) there is also a plug-in for PocketPCs for viewing flv films (tcpmpflvplugin) from video portals such as YouTube or MyVideo . However, the videos can only be started directly in the minimo and Opera mobile browsers , as Internet Explorer for Windows Mobile does not support JavaScript .
