The Final Cartridge 3

The Final Cartridge III , also the Final Cartridge 3 , shortly FC3 was a very popular plug-in module extension for the home computer C64 and Commodore 128 , which was produced by the company Riska BV Home & Personal Computers (Holland). The module offered a quick loading program (such as Turbo Tape ) and a freezer, which enabled the user to stop the computer at any point in the program sequence so that it could later continue running at the same point.

The plug-in module was connected to the expansion port of the respective computer. Externally, two switches (for the "Reset" and "Freeze" functions) and an LED that indicated whether the module was active or inactive were attached to the plug-in module .

One of the interesting functions of the cartridge was the GUI : When the device was switched on (or when the reset and C = keys were pressed at the same time), the screen displayed a graphic WIMP desktop. The graphical user interface was based on the AmigaOS 1.x.

Furthermore, the module expanded the number of basic commands, such as B. RENUMBER, and several utility commands.

The Final Cartridge 3 complements itself very well with an SD2IEC floppy, since the fast loader of the FC3 is retained in file browsers such as the CBM browser or the SD2BRWSE. The F-key commands of the FC3 also facilitate the use of the SD2IEC. So you can combine these hardware with each other perfectly.
