The Game of Love is an English-language musical based on the German plays Anatol and Anatols megalomania by the Austrian playwright Arthur Schnitzler . It is set in Vienna in the late 19th century and deals with the many superficial and immature relationships of the middle-class playboy Anatol. The musical is based on the translation of the play by Tom Jones . The lyrics are by Jones, the music by Jacques Offenbach , with musical arrangements and additional music by Nancy Ford .
