The Hanks are an American rock band from Los Angeles , California . The music style can be classified between alternative rock and indie rock .

history

Josh Grondin and Bryan Harris met at a boarding school in the US state of Oregon . When the two moved to Los Angeles, they met Philip Katz and Shane Mayo. The four formed the band The Hanks . Shortly thereafter, Ben Welch joined the group. His main attention, however, was his band Darci Cash , which Josh Grondin also belonged to. Over time, the two music groups went on tour more often, and so the two musicians decided to devote their attention to their main project and left the other band.

Her debut album was released in March 2005 under the name Your New Attraction . The album was released under the music label CaffeineTeen Records , which The Hanks co-founded and under which Darci Cash and The Absentee were also signed. On September 26, 2006, Your New Attraction was re-released under the Cobra Music label . The band also produced two EPs with songs written by Grondin and Harris before they moved to Los Angeles.

Initially another six-song EP was planned, but the band decided to produce an entire album. This was published on March 6, 2008 under the title Distance and contained an acoustic version of the title Cinnamon Scars when pre-ordered on the Internet .

On July 31, 2008, Philip Katz announced on the band's MySpace page that he was leaving The Hanks to teach music in Los Angeles.
