The Machine (computer architecture)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Machine is the name for a future computer architecture from HPE .

The project was officially presented in the form of a mock-up on June 10, 2014 at the Discover conference .

construction

A machine consists of:

advantages

  • Reduction of power consumption for memory, processor and data transmission
  • greater flexibility in the connection between processor and memory thanks to the flexible fiber optic cable
  • higher data throughput
  • Treating a server farm as a single computer

Kernel

The project envisages porting the Linux kernel, especially for Android . A cooperation with Microsoft for the development of a specialized Windows kernel is not planned so far.
