The Artevetztoren (officially: KBC Artevetztoren ) is a skyscraper in the Belgian city ​​of Ghent . At 118.5 meters, the tower is the tallest building in Ghent and the tallest skyscraper in the Flemish Region . It is the regional headquarters of KBC . The building was officially inaugurated on April 20, 2012.

history

The project was given the temporary name MG Tower. The letters stand for the initials of the names of the developer's two children, Margaux and Guillaume. In December 2010 the tower received its final name, KBC Artevetztoren. KBC Bank forms the first part of the name, and Jacob van Artevelde from Ghent forms the second part.

The groundbreaking took place in March 2010 and the highest point of the building was reached in early July 2011. The tower is 118.5 meters high, has 27 floors and 20,800 square meters of office space.

The Artevetztoren is the symbolic gateway to the new The Loop Project . A lively district is to be built in place of the old Sint-Denijs-Westrem airport. It is located in the Sint-Denijs-Westrem district of Ghent , near the exit of the E40, the B402, the Kortrijksesteenweg and the Flanders Expo exhibition center .
