The Master Trust Bank of Japan, Ltd. (MTBJ; Japanese 日本 マ ス タ ー ト ラ ス ト 信託 銀行 株式会社 , Nihon masutā torasuto shintaku ginkō kabushiki kaisha ) is a Japanese trust and investment bank .
Total assets under management in trusts at the end of fiscal 2007 were 137 trillion yen (€ 874 billion).
history
In 1985 the bank was founded as Chase Manhattan Trust and Banking ( チ ェ ー ス ・ マ ン ハ ッ タ ン 信託 銀行 ). This was taken over by Deutsche Bank Japan in 1996 and merged into Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Trust Bank ( ド イ チ ェ ・ モ ル ガ ン ・ グ レ ン フ ェ ル 信託 銀行 ), later DMG Trust Bank . In 2000, the bank was set up in its current form with the entry of Mitsubishi Trust & Banking and three other Japanese companies, the name was changed to The Master Trust Bank of Japan .
