The Music Group was a multinational company whose companies included several major European manufacturers of musical instruments .

The Music Group was spun off in 2003 from the former conglomerate Boosey & Hawkes , which has since concentrated on its core business as a music publisher . The English fund Rutland Partners acted as the investor for the spin-off . He funded the spin-off with £ 33 million. The group initially consisted of the following companies:

In April 2004, Rico International was the first company in the group to be sold for € 22 million. This was followed by the sale of the companies Jakob Winter and Karl Höfner to the respective management. However, these two sales did not generate any significant sales. Buffet Crampon was sold in June 2005 for € 37.1 million. In 2005, The Music Group consolidated its holdings further on the brands Besson as well as Schreiber and Keilwerth . Besson went to Buffet Crampon in January 2006 .
