content
Two of the four tracks on the EP ( Bloodbeat and A Boy Like Me ) were released in 2003 on the album Lycanthropy .
All of the songs on the EP were recorded by Patrick between 1994 and 2002. Patrick recorded or collected most of the rhythms and noises himself. For example, the clapping for A Boy Like Me was recorded in a hair salon. He mixed all the songs himself on his laptop and played most of the instruments himself.
Empress
The second song on the album is about an empress who rules over his feelings. He describes how he will lose her and how he will sacrifice himself to be with her. The song is accompanied by the dancing sounds of a music box and several vocal levels are used.
Piano, vocals, noises, viola and accordion were programmed by Patrick Wolf.
Pumpkin Soup
The last song on the EP is very cheesy, but that's intentional. It is about a childhood and a healing expectation towards the future that makes one forget the suffering one has always struggled with.
The piano, viola and violin were played by Patrick Wolf, the cello by Joe Zeitlin and the whole thing was recorded by Leo Chadburn.
