The pointer (from the English loosely translated as The Hinweiser , on some charts also Pointers Rocks ) are two cliff rocks in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . They are northwest of Rugged Island .
The name goes back to seal hunters who operated in the waters around the South Shetland Islands in the 1820s.
