Friedrich Schlemmer

Johann Friedrich Philipp Middleton Schlemmer (born June 15, 1803 in Steinau an der Strasse , † September 23, 1890 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Friedrich Schlemmer studied law in Heidelberg and Marburg . He was initially an educator in the Rothschild house and from 1842 a lawyer in Frankfurt am Main. He was the author of various scripts.

Schlemmer represented liberal positions and was a member of the Gotha post-parliament in 1849 . From 1853 to 1860 and 1863 he was a member of the Legislative Body . From 1857 until the end of the Free City of Frankfurt in 1866, he was a member of the permanent citizens' representation .

In the Reichstag election in February 1867 , he entered the Reichstag constituency of Wiesbaden 6th district (city of Frankfurt), but received only 81 votes or 1.1% and was unable to prevail against the conservative candidate Mayer Carl von Rothschild .

He was a member of many charitable foundations and institutions and was considered an expert in organ building and playing.

Friedrich Schlemmer was related to Cécile Jeanrenaud , whom he introduced to Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , whom he had previously met in Naples .
