Rugged Island ( Argentine name: Isla Rugosa , old names are Lloyds Island or Ragged Island ) is an uninhabited island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica . It was discovered at Christmas 1819 by the British seal hunter Joseph Herring, who went ashore in the northeast of the island at Hersilia Cove and bought the island for King George III. took possession.
geography
Rugged Island is on Drake Street . New Plymouth Bay and Osogovo Bay lie between it and Livingston Island, about 3 km to the east . Both islands are separated from Snow Island by Morton Strait . Rugged Island is around 6 km long, up to 2 km wide and 10.4 km² in size. The island is not glaciated .
