The Potential is the seventh official mixtape by American rapper Tyga . It was released on June 9, 2009 by Young Money Entertainment , Decaydance Records and GED Inc. It was Tyga's last release on Decaydance Records, and his subsequent works have all been released by Young Money Entertainment or Cash Money Entertainment .

The mixtape was released on June 9th, 2009 and is the rapper's seventh. In 2009 Tyga released a total of four mixtapes, including The Free Album , Outraged and Underage and Black Thoughts . After his debut album was published in 2008, the high number of traditionally available free mixtapes was intended to promote the artist, as he was little known outside of the rap and hip-hop scene at the time of publication .

One review said that you can hear how much work has been put into the mixtape. The writer also said it could have been a full album as well and he would have spent money on its release as well. Another reviewer found the name of the mixtape particularly appropriate, as the performer really revealed a lot of potential. Andy Cool was also positive and stated that he will definitely follow the rapper's further career. Many authors of different reviews also pointed out that Tyga had developed the necessary maturity and substance that he still lacked at the time of his earlier mixtapes and his debut album. They also certified that he was on the right track to make the big breakthrough in the near future.
