The Princely Liechtenstein Tattoo is a music show that has been taking place in the Principality of Liechtenstein for three days every September since 2012 . In terms of content, the Princely Liechtenstein Tattoo is based on the world's largest tattoos, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo (Scotland) and the Basel Tattoo (Switzerland). It is under the patronage of Prince Hans-Adam II. Von und zu Liechtenstein and is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture of the Liechtenstein government.

Every year around 300 participants take part in the demonstrations on the historic Neu-Schellenberg castle ruins . These are composed of top-class military and police music bands from Europe, national top formations and national cultural carriers. An important part are the performances of the Massed Pipes and Drums , the association of bagpipers and drummers.

The “Princely Tattoo” is visited by over 4,000 spectators every year.

In 2019 over 6,500 visitors were counted at the parade. A tribune with 576 seats was also set up for the tattoo.

Specialty

The greatest specialty of the “Princely Tattoo” is its venue, the historic Neu-Schellenberg castle ruins. The castle ruin Neu-Schellenberg dates from the 13th century and is a clear object in which all the typical features of a medieval knight's castle are still clearly visible.

Princely Tattoo Parade

On the occasion of “The Princely Liechtenstein Tattoo”, the “Princely Tattoo Parade” takes place in Schaan every Saturday afternoon . In 2019, however, the tattoo was a partner of the celebrations for the 300th year of Lichtenstein's birth. Therefore, the parade took place in Vaduz in 2019 . In addition to the formations taking part in Schellenberg, additional formations from Liechtenstein and the region take part.
