The Rural Alberta Advantage ( The RAA for short ) is a Canadian indie rock band from Toronto, founded in 2005 . It consists of the three members Paul Banwatt, Amy Cole and Nils Edenloff.

In 2008 the debut album Hometowns was released , still on a small indie label. The band became more popular when they were named "featured artist of the month" on the eMusic website in November 2008 and compared with Neutral Milk Hotel . In 2009 Hometowns was re-released on the well-known indie label Saddle Creek .
