Saddle Creek Records

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saddle Creek is an Independent - record label in Omaha , Nebraska .

The label was founded in 1993 under the name Lumberjack Records by the brothers Justin and Conor Oberst as well as regular producer Mike Mogis and the head of the label, Robb Nansel. However, the label had to rename itself in the mid-1990s for legal reasons. The name chosen fell on the street on which the house of Conor and Justin Oberst stood. The first release was a tape by the then 13-year-old Conor Oberst named Water from 1993.

After the record company's releases were initially only known to insider circles, since the success of the Bright Eyes LP Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground in 2002, there has been a hype around the label and the bands under contract originated.

The label is now one of the better-known labels in the field of indie rock and pop, although acoustic elements and borrowings from country music can also be included.

The most famous bands on Saddle Creek besides the Bright Eyes are The Good Life , Cursive , The Faint , Two Gallants , Azure Ray , Now It's Overhead , Desaparecidos and Son, Ambulance . Saddle Creek can now look back on over 100 publications.
