Now It's Overhead was an American alternative / indie rock band from Athens , Georgia .

Band history

Now It's Overhead was founded by singer-songwriter Andy LeMaster initially as a studio project to record a collection of songs he had composed over the previous two years. The studio cast included Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink from Azure Ray and drummer Clay Leverett. The self-titled album released in 2001 was successfully distributed by Saddle Creek , so that the studio formation became a full-time band . As Andy LeMaster returned to work for his band Bright Eyes and Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink drove their project Azure Ray, the follow-up album Fall Back Open was not released until 2004. Two years later, after Brad Register and Curtis Brown had joined the band, the third studio album, Dark Light Daybreak, was released . Register and Brown are also with the band Summerbirds in the Cellar . The rest of 2006 the band spent promoting their new album. In 2007 they played in the opening act for the Scottish band Idlewild on their tour through Great Britain. Since 2007 there have been no more appearances or publications, so that a breakup of the band must be assumed.

Trivia

  • Michael Stipe from REM and Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes made smaller contributions to the album Fall Back Open .
