Honda Canada Inc. is a subsidiary of the Honda Motor Company. The headquarters are in Markham, Ontario . The company has several production sites and offices in Canada. The products are marketed in Canada, the United States and other countries. In addition to cars, the company also offers motorcycles. Honda Marine offers outboard motors for boats, Honda Power Equipment offers, among others. a. Generators, water pumps and lawn mowers.
history
The branch was founded in 1969. In 1984 additional offices were opened in British Columbia to serve the west. The location also serves as a technical training center and also includes a spare parts warehouse. In the same year it was decided to open a production site in Canada. In 1986 automobile production began in a new production facility in Alliston . It was the first Japanese automobile manufacturer's plant in Canada. In addition, the Acura subsidiary was founded and the Acura Legend and Integra models were launched on the market in the same year . 1987 Honda Canada Finance Inc. was founded. The aim was to offer end users credit and other financing options. In 1988 production of the Honda Civic hatchback began for the North American market. In 1989, the 100,000th vehicle was produced in Canada. In 1991 another office was opened in Quebec. In 1992 the Civic Coupé was produced. In 1993, Honda Canada produced the 500,000. Vehicle. In 1994 the export of vehicles to Taiwan and Brazil began. In 1995, Honda Canada Inc. was the first automobile manufacturer in North America to receive ISO 9002 certification. In 1997, the one millionth vehicle was produced in Canada. Another production line was opened in 1998, producing the first Odyssey minivan . The minivan is produced for the North American market; a slightly modified minivan ( LaGreat ) is exported to Japan. The Honda Insight was introduced to the market in 2000 and was North America's first hybrid vehicle. Production of the Acura MDX began in Alliston. The vehicle is marketed worldwide. In 2001, the two millionth Honda vehicle was sold in Canada. In 2004, the three millionth vehicle was built in Canada. In 2005 the production of the first Honda pick-up truck with the model name Ridgeline began . Between 2006 and 2008, the company built a new engine production facility in the vicinity of Honda Canada and a production facility in Alliston. The production of four-cylinder engines was planned. The annual production capacity should be 200,000 engines per year. 340 people were to be employed in engine production at this location. The cost item for the investment was $ 154 million. The four millionth vehicle left the production halls in 2008. The Honda Civic Hybrid won the AJAC Award for alternative environmentally friendly motor vehicles.
In addition, the Honda Canada models Honda Civic and Honda Ridgeline were named Car of the Year and Truck of the Year by the Canadian Association of Automobile Journalists. The 5 millionth vehicle left the Alliston production facility in 2009. In May 2010, Honda opened a main office on the Markham Ontario campus.

Production sites
Honda Canada Inc. has two manufacturing plants located in Alliston , north of Toronto . In 2008 a plant for engine production was also opened. The capacity of the plant is 390,000 units.
