The Acura EL is a lower middle class passenger car , which was offered exclusively in Canada from 1996 to 2005 by the premium brand Acura belonging to Honda . The vehicle was never an in-house development, it was always renamed Honda models from other countries.

The first generation of the EL, called Acura 1.6 EL according to the syntax at the time , is a second generation Honda Domani adapted for Acura . The Domani is a Japanese noble version of the Honda Civic of that time , but which by itself already has a slightly different front, which was then adopted for the Acura. The car has a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a net output of 94 kW (128 hp) and a maximum torque of 144 Nm, as was offered elsewhere for the Civic.

The second generation, built from 2001 to 2005, is derived directly from the following Honda Civic after the Domani was discontinued . Due to a new engine, the model is now called the Acura 1.7 EL with a maximum output of 94 kW (128 PS).
In 2005 the Acura EL was replaced by the Acura CSX , which is still a relabeled Honda Civic.
