The Acura ILX (internal designation: DE 1/2/3) is a sedan of the compact class , which since 2012 by Acura , a brand of Honda is prepared.

history

The sedan as part of the first presented North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January 2012 in Detroit as a concept car Acura ILX Concept . A month later, the production car made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show . The vehicle went on sale in May 2012. From the start of sales in 2012, it was available with a hybrid drive and is considered the brand's first hybrid electric vehicle ; In 2014 the variant was discontinued. A revised version of the ILX was presented at the LA Auto Show in November 2014. It was sold from February 2015. The ILX was revised again in autumn 2018.

background

The vehicle is based on the ninth generation of the Honda Civic , but some points have been changed compared to this.

Production and sales

In contrast to its predecessor, the Acura CSX , which is only available in Canada , the ILX is also available in the United States and Mexico . The sedan was built in Greensburg (Indiana) between 2012 and 2014 . Since the facelift in early 2015, production has been in Marysville (Ohio) . The CSX, however, was produced in Alliston , Canada .

Originally, Honda planned for 30 000 ILX in discontinued from the start of sales in May 2012 to April 2013, however, this according to the Ward car data was only 19 759 units achieved. From 2012 to 2014, less than 1500 units of the hybrid variant were sold per sales year.

drive

From sales start the vehicle with a maximum power of 112 was  kW (150  hp ) from a 2.0-liter, 2.4-liter R4 - petrol engine with a maximum of 150 kW (201 hp) and a mild hybrid drive. The hybrid drive consists of a 1.5-liter R4 gasoline engine with a maximum of 83 kW (111 hp) and a 15 kW electric motor between the combustion engine and transmission ( IMA ). The motors are installed across the direction of travel and their power is transferred to the front wheels . The 2.0-liter engine had a five-speed automatic transmission , the 2.4-liter engine had a six-speed manual transmission and the hybrid model had a continuously variable transmission . Multi-point manifold injection was used for all three engines .

When changing to the 2015 model year, the hybrid variant was no longer available. Since the first facelift in the 2016 model year, the 2.0-liter engine is no longer available. At the same time , the manual transmission of the remaining 2.4-liter engine, which was converted to gasoline direct injection , was replaced by an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission . Its displacement was also increased by 2 cm³ to 2356 cm³.
