The Spear (painting)

The Spear (German: Der Speer ) is a painting by the South African artist Brett Murray . The life-size acrylic painting in the colors red, black and yellow shows the South African politician and President Jacob Zuma with open trousers and freely visible genitals. The painting was exhibited by the Goodman Gallery in Johannesburg from May 10, 2012 .

The ANC then filed a lawsuit against the gallery. On May 22, 2012, the painting was damaged by vandalism.
