The Thunder 103.5FM is a country radio station based in Kaministiquia , Ontario , Canada . The station is operated by Northwest Broadcasting. In addition to the Kaministiquia station, the company operates another one in Shuniah, on frequency 104.5FM south of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.

history

On September 15, 2000, Northwest Broadcasting received a license from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to operate on the 104.5 MHz frequency in Kaministiquia, Ontario. Broadcasting began in 2001/2002, and the second broadcaster started operating in 2003.

On June 10, 2005, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) denied the takeover of the station by Dougall Media.

Since it was founded, the station has experienced many short-lived broadcast formats such as hot ac / oldies, adult hits and country music and hot adult contemporary format. In May 2008, a uniform country format was established, now known as 103.5 The Thunder.

In April 2010, the broadcaster applied for an increase in the transmission power for its two transmission stations from 50 and 10 watts to 250 watts. However, the competent authority has not approved this.
