The Woolpackers
The Woolpackers was an English country-rock - trio of the 1990s resulting from the ITV - soap opera Emmerdale emerged and tried by the former popularity of line dancing to benefit. Members were the musicians Steve Haliwell, Billy Hartman and Alun Lewis.
Despite repeated criticism of the group's style, the single Hillbilly Rock Hillbilly Roll made it to number 5 in the UK charts in November 1996 . The accompanying album Emmerdance reached number 26 in England a few weeks later. A year later, the single Line Dance Party climbed to number 25 and the album The Greatest Line Dancing Party to number 48 in the UK.
