The Theater and Spielberatung Baden-Württemberg e. V. (short: TSB) is a theater educational institution based in Heidelberg , which is mainly active in the field of school theater and related training. Your core tasks are in the field of education and training and advice.

Areas of responsibility

consultation

The association sees itself as a theater educational institute for theater professionals with an advisory function. It offers an extensive library, offers for further education and training and, last but not least, a diverse network of various actors in the theater education landscape. The TSB's genuine mandate is to support school theaters and other amateur stages and groups - it provides ideas for plays, supporting specialist literature and also offers rehearsal visits and coaching.

Library

The association's library in the middle of Heidelberg's old town offers the largest selection of theater plays and specialist theater literature in southern Germany. With around 17,000 plays and various works of theatrical literature, there is a wide range of constantly updated items available for loan. Using an online search, the advice center's literature inventory can be searched for desired titles or areas of interest and selected books can be ordered. On site, the TSB will advise you on the search for theater pieces and theater-specific specialist literature.

history

In 1946, the teacher Hans Bernhard founded an educational institution in Brombach / Odenwald to give the amateur play movement and school theater new impetus after the war. With like-minded fellow campaigners, the "Laienspielberatung Nordbaden" was recognized as a registered association in 1953 as a "Working Group for the Care of Laienspiel, Fest- und Celebrgestaltung eV".

In 1969 the association moved to Wilhelmsfeld / Odenwald. The expansion of the field of work through further training for teachers, the establishment of the Franco-German Theatertage and the “Kraichgauer Theatertage” as a meeting of the amateur theater groups in North Baden led to the recognition and promotion of the association by the North Baden Regional Council in Karlsruhe.

In 1972 the working group merged with the “Württembergischer Laienspielverband” to form the “Landesverband Amateurtheater Baden-Württemberg e. V. ”, whose deputy chairman and artistic director from then on was Hans Bernhard. He was retired in 1989 as an honorary member of the Baden-Württemberg theater and game consultancy with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.

In 1989 the high school teacher and theater pedagogue Wolfgang Mettenberger took over the management of the institute. On behalf of the ministry and through cooperation with the city of Heidelberg, Theater- und Spielberatung Baden-Württemberg e. V. expanded into a theater education institute.

In 1991, through close cooperation with the Munich theater scholar Margot Berthold, Hans Bernhard succeeded in incorporating and opening a unique “ Commedia dell'arte archive”. This includes 300 books, 800 articles, presentations and newspaper reports, posters, historical graphics and recent images, masks by Italo Locchi, photos, videos and slides.

In 1992, the “Socio-Cultural Center Karlstorbahnhof” was founded in the theater and game consulting room and the “Heidelberg Theaterwerkstatt” of the TSB was initiated as a theater education training meeting with around 3,000 visitors to date. In 1995, the high school teacher and theater pedagogue Eva Layer was won over to become the deputy head of the theater and game consultancy in Baden-Württemberg. The advanced training area was expanded and the "two-year basic theater education training" was introduced.

In 2013 Christiane Daubenberger took over the institute as head and managing director. In addition, she is the chairwoman of the sponsoring association. Since 2014, the theater and game consultancy has been located in Heidelberg's old town.
