Theater in the Schokohof
The Theater im Schokohof (formerly Orphtheater ), or TISCH for short , is a free theater in Berlin-Mitte . It was founded in 1990 by Thomas Roth together with members of the former "Pantomimentheater Prenzlauer Berg" and other professional actors under the name "Orphtheater". 1995 Susanne Truckenbrodt took over the artistic direction.
In the meantime, the theater under the roof of the Orphtheater served as a rehearsal and performance venue, in 1999 the company moved to the former chocolate factory at Ackerstrasse 169 and opened there on June 11, 1999. The theater has 60 seats. In 2002 Matthias Horn and Christin Eckart took over the artistic direction, in 2006 Eckart left.
By the end of 2007 around 35 productions had been created, including modern classics as well as pieces by contemporary authors such as Lukas Bärfuss , Jenny Erpenbeck and Paul M Waschkau u. a. with actors such as Uwe Schmieder, Martina Eitner-Acheampong and Milena Drei 30 or directors such as Hans-Werner Kroesinger and Thomas Ostermeier .
In January 2009, the Orphtheater stopped working due to financial problems. The newly founded theater in the Schokohof was built in its place, and some members of the Orphtheater continued to operate it as a venue until it was closed in July 2012.
The TISCH was space for “alternative, free and cross-disciplinary art projects and innovative art forms of all kinds”.
