Thelpusa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thelpusa ( Greek  Θέλπουσα , as Telphusa ( Τέλφουσα ) or Thelpusa ( Θέλφουσα handed)) is in the Greek mythology an Arcadian Naiad . Her father was the river god Ladon . It gave its name to the city of the same name Thelphusa . The name of the nymph is documented several times in inscriptions, on Crete there was a sanctuary dedicated to her, probably Arcadian emigrants, so that a cult can also be assumed in Arcadia itself.
