The Theodor Kromer KG was a German security company and manufacturer of security systems .

history

The company founded by Theodor Kromer (1839–1928) in 1868 with headquarters in Neustadt was engaged in the further development of high-security locks. In 1872 the company was relocated to Freiburg im Breisgau and in 1873 Kromer presented the Protector lock at the World Exhibition in Vienna , winning the gold medal.

In 1887 over 60 safe manufacturers certified the quality of Kromer locks. The Deutsche Reichsbank only used safes with Kromer locks and all well-known manufacturers offered their products with these locks as an option.

In 1890 Kromer offered the first time lock.

In 1997 the company went to the Canadian Unican group, which later also owned the former competitor Mauer from Heiligenhaus. As a result, Mauer Kromer GmbH was created. The Uncan Group was later taken over by the Swiss Kaba Group . In 2002 parts of the product range of Lebtig Schliesstechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Bötzingen.
