Life

There is no information about his person or his work. He came from Sebaste. His successor was John I. This was first mentioned in 1008.

  1. ↑ Theophylactus of Sebaste , there were several cities with this name. Andrzej Poppe suspects that he came from Sebaste in Armenia and that he may have been expelled in 987 after an uprising against Byzantine rule and then sent to the Kievan Rus by Emperor Basilius . This is possible, but there is no historical evidence for it.
