St. Thiatgrim

Thiatgrim , also Dietgrim († February 8, 840 ) was abbot of the monasteries Werden and Helmstedt and at the same time first bishop of Halberstadt (827-840).

He was the fourth abbot of the monasteries Werden and Helmstedt and after the death of Bishop Hildegrim I in 827, he became his successor in Halberstadt. In 829 he is mentioned as bishop in the files of the synod of Mainz without the addition of the diocesan name. Dates indicate that the Werden monastery was managed jointly with Bishop Gerfried . Bishop Thiatgrim, a nephew of Liudger , was buried in the Liudgerid crypt in Werden monastery. According to the German Caritas calendar, Thiatgrim's name day is celebrated on February 8th.
