Thierry Lentz (2011)

Thierry Lentz (born July 8, 1959 in Metz ) is a French historian who is scientifically specialized in the consulate and the First Empire of France. Since 2000 he has been director of the Fondation Napoléon in Paris .

Only one of his many books has been translated into German so far, his analysis of the Congress of Vienna . In this he contradicts the widespread view of French historians that the aim of the Congress was solely to humiliate France. In contrast, he emphasizes how comfortable peace has turned out for France after 20 years of occupation and devastation of European states by Napoleonic troops.
