The THIMM Group , headquartered in Northeim ( Lower Saxony ), is a manufacturer and supplier of transport and sales packaging made of corrugated cardboard, sales stands (displays), packaging systems and printed products for industrial processing. The offer also includes packaging-related services.

history

The company was founded by Walter Felix Thimm in Herzberg am Harz in 1949 and started producing its own corrugated cardboard in 1959. In 1970 Klaus Thimm, the son of the company founder, became a personally liable partner alongside his father. A European sales network in France, the Netherlands and Denmark was established and expanded. Since 1990 the company has expanded its activities to include the markets in Central and Eastern Europe, and in 1994 the company's first foreign corrugated cardboard plant in the Czech Republic was built in Všetaty (near Prague).

With the introduction of a company-wide umbrella brand THIMM - THE HIGHPACK COMPANY in 1999, the service and product portfolio was divided into different business areas. After Klaus Thimm moved from operational business to the corporate advisory board in 2000, Mathias Schliep took over management.

In 2006 the company entered the Romanian market. In 2011, as part of a joint venture with the Spanish packaging company SAICA, a majority stake in a corrugated cardboard factory in southern Poland was established. Further business partnerships in India and Great Britain also continued growth in international markets. In Germany, new company locations have been set up in Essen, Bremen, Duisburg, Unterschleißheim and Germersheim since 2012.

According to its own statements, THIMM has grown by an average of ten percent in recent years. Sales in the 2017 financial year amounted to 601 million euros. In 2017, 3,035 people were employed at a total of 19 locations in Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, France and Mexico.

The group of companies offers the packaging industry a complete service for everything to do with packaging. THIMM divides the product range into business areas: from advice on the packaging management process, customer-specific development and manufacture of packaging made from corrugated cardboard, packaging systems made from various material combinations and displays, through digital prepress, selection of the appropriate printing process, packaging and contract packaging services to sales-specific delivery. Under the Kartonara brand, the THIMM Group has been operating an online shop for standardized packaging and packaging material for small and medium-sized companies as well as for private customers since 2018.
