Third Eye Machine (TEM) is a French metal band.

history

The band was founded in 1996 on the initiative of Mister Paak (the singer) in Chambéry , a small town in the French Alps. Third Eye Machine composed the first work Trauma in 1999, which laid the basis for the rough and impressive sound very early on.

Trauma was a self-produced demo album. The album received very positive reviews from journalists and the FNAC Shops choose Trauma as "autoprod of the month".

At this time, Third Eye Machine was performing in various clubs and bars and was discovered by the Swiss producer David Weber ( Young Gods , Lofofora, Shovel). This enabled the production of the album Lookin 'for Cure , which was released in 2002. Lookin 'for Cure met with a positive response, but the band regretted the artistic compromises that had to be made due to the time pressure during production - Lookin' for Cure did not reflect the energy, darkness and emotions that Third Eye Machine had set itself as a goal.

Shortly afterwards, the band contacted the producer Sam Albert (Nostromo, Bumblefoot) and asked him if he would like to produce a mini CD with them with two songs based on the new ideas. This resulted in the West Balkans Project .

Thousands of sample copies of this were distributed in France and gave a foretaste of the upcoming Third Eye Machine album. West Balkans Project ended up in the hands of the EMI label , which asked Third Eye Machine to be represented on the “Area Metal” compilation. At the same time, Rage magazine chose Third Eye Machine for “French discovery” and presented the group on their sampler.

After two years, Third Eye Machine was planning a more mature, darker and more expressive album with Romkert . Loot (bass) produced the album, the title song of which Romkert made it into the top 5 of the American metal radio station Chronix , himself. The entry into the American market and the widespread use of the Internet by Chronix brought Third Eye Machine a multitude of new possibilities and opportunities, z. B. that their innovative music or songs can now also be found in films or video games .
