Thomas Ellerborn

Thomas Ellerborn (* 14th or 15th century; † around 1472 in Aachen ) was lay judge and mayor of the imperial city of Aachen .

Live and act

The son of the mayor Johann Ellerborn and Margarethe von Brachel came from an influential family that was originally based in Münstereifel and initially spelled Elreborn and after moving to the city of Aachen produced numerous officials there. Thomas Ellerborn followed his father into the college of aldermen and was first mentioned as such in 1443. Between 1443 and 1448 he worked as a judge at the jury's chair and then leased his office from the incumbent Vogt and Meier of Aachen, Wilhelm von Lintzenich. Finally Ellerborn was elected mayor of the Free Imperial City of Aachen in 1451, 1455, 1458 and 1462 . Afterwards he took over the office of the Sendschöffen in 1466 and from 1470 the office of Meiers von Burtscheid .

Thomas Ellerborn was married to Agnes von Wylre, a daughter of Mayor Gerhard von Wylre , any children are not known by name. Through his brother Peter he was the uncle of the future mayor Johann Ellerborn .
