Thomas Geitner

Thomas Geitner (born March 14, 1955 in Heidenheim ) is a German manager.

Career

After graduating from high school in Aalen in 1974 and completing military service, Geitner studied at the Technical University of Munich and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and in 1982 his MBA at the European Institute for Management in Fontainebleau .

Until 1991 he worked at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG as head of production and technology. In 1992 he moved to Leybold AG as a board member to manage the vacuum components division at the Cologne location. At the end of 1995 he became CEO of the two RWE subsidiaries Rheinelektra and Lahmeyer AG , which he managed to merge. He then moved to the board of directors of RWE AG, where from 1997 he was responsible for the mechanical engineering and telecommunications business. On July 15, 1998 he became head of the telecommunications company o.tel.o communications , which was taken over by Mannesmann Arcor the following year .

After the takeover of Mannesmann by Vodafone in 2000, Geitner moved to the international board of the British mobile communications group Vodafone Group PLC, where he was responsible for cross-border projects. In 2005 he moved to the Vodafone corporate headquarters in Newbury. From April 2006 to December 2006 he was responsible for the “New Businesses and Innovations” division, which includes the fixed line subsidiary Arcor . Due to disputes with the top management, Geitner left Vodafone in 2008.

Since February 2007 he has been a board member of BBC Worldwide . From March 2008 to 2010 Geitner worked at HENKEL AG & CO KGAA .
