Bernd Murschel (born November 24, 1956 in Leonberg ) has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg since 2006 . There he is the environmental policy spokesman.

education and profession

After graduating from secondary school in Leonberg, Bernd Murschel completed an apprenticeship as a paint laboratory assistant at Cetelon in Ditzingen . This was followed by civil service in an institution for the disabled and, on the second educational path, the Abitur at the technical high school in Stuttgart . After studying agricultural science at the University of Hohenheim , he received his doctorate there in the field of soil physics. After completing his studies, he worked as an employee in the collaborative research center for the environmentally friendly use of agricultural landscapes at the University of Stuttgart. He has been an independent environmental consultant since 1995. He was also a lecturer at theNürtingen-Geislingen University of Economics and Environment . From 2006 to 2010 he worked there as a research assistant . Since 2006, Dr. Bernd Murschel the constituency Leonberg-Herrenberg for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg.

Political activity

Bernd Murschel has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 1986. Since 1989 he has represented his party in the city council of Leonberg and has been parliamentary group leader there since 2009. From 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the district council in the Boeblingen district . In addition, he ran in 2009 in the election of the mayor of Leonberg and received 38.9% of the vote. So he could not replace the incumbent Bernhard Schuler (non-party).
He has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg since April 11, 2006. In the 14th electoral period from 2006 to 2011, he was a member of the Committee on Rural Areas and Agriculture and a deputy member of the Economic, Environment, Europe and Petitions Committee .
In the 15th electoral term (2011–2016) Bernd Murschel was a member of the Committee on Rural Areas and Consumer Protection and a member of the Committee on the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector . He was a deputy member of the Finance and Economic Committee, the Transport Committee, the European Committee, the Science Committee and the Petitions Committee. Bernd Murschel was also chairman of the working group for rural areas and consumer protection of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .
In the state elections in 2016, Dr. Bernd Murschel holds the direct mandate in the constituency of Leonberg - Herrenberg with 31.9% of the vote. In the 16th electoral term (since 2016) Bernd Murschel is a member of the Committee on Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector as well as the Committee on Europe and International Affairs. He is a deputy member in the Agriculture Committee, Economic Committee, Science Committee, Transport Committee, the Standing Committee and the Petitions Committee.

Family and private

Bernd Murschel is Protestant. He is widowed, has two children and lives in Leonberg.
