Thomas Gries (economist)

Thomas Gries (born August 17, 1960 in Duderstadt ) is a German economist and professor at the Chair for Macro Theory & International Growth and Business Theory at the University of Paderborn .

Life

After completing his economics studies at the Georg-August University in Göttingen in 1984, he became a research assistant at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . There doctorate he 1988 Dr. sc. pol. In the same year he returned to Göttingen as a scientific adviser to do his habilitation there in 1993 on the subject of growth and development, human capital and the dynamics of comparative advantages. At the same time, he received the Venia Legendi for economics. After completing his habilitation, Gries took over a professorship at the University of Paderborn before taking over a professorship there in 1995 for “International Growth and Business Theory”.
