Thomas Herker

Thomas Herker (born November 12, 1978 in Pfaffenhofen adIlm ) is a German local politician ( SPD ) and the first mayor of his hometown.

Career

Herker attended elementary school in Pfaffenhofen and the technical college in Ingolstadt . He completed an apprenticeship as a merchant in wholesale and foreign trade and then worked as a sales assistant, followed by a degree in business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Ingolstadt with a focus on personnel and organizational management as well as corporate taxation. Then he was employed in organizational management at BayWa in Munich .

He has been a member of the SPD since 1999. In May 2007 he was elected chairman of the SPD local association in Pfaffenhofen. In the mayoral election in March 2008, he prevailed in the runoff election against incumbent Hans Prechter ( CSU ). On March 16, 2014, he was confirmed in his office for another six years with around 63% of the votes cast in the first ballot. He is the first SPD mayor in Pfaffenhofen since the Second World War . In the local elections on March 15, 2020 , he was once again confirmed in office as the first mayor of Pfaffenhofen with 54.8 percent of the vote.

In 2011, Thomas Herker was elected to the state executive committee of the Bavarian SPD as a voting member and was confirmed in this office at the state party conference in 2013. He has been a board member of the Bavarian Association of Cities since 2014.
