Thomas R. Elßner

Thomas R. Elßner (born August 18, 1961 in Görlitz ) is a German Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1987 to 1992 he studied philosophy and theology in Erfurt and at the PTH Sankt Georgen . As a promotion Cusanuswerk scholarship (1993-1996), he wrote on his dissertation, which he in 1997 doctorate was. From 2000 to 2005 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Theology and Peace . From 2002 to 2005 he had a teaching position with Thomas Hoppe at the Helmut Schmidt University . Since 2005 he has been a military chaplain and lecturer at the Inner Guidance Center in Koblenz . After completing his habilitation in 2007/2008 at the University of Erfurt , he has been Professor of Theology and Exegesis of the Old Testament at the PTH Vallendar since April 2009 .

His main areas of research are justification of violence in biblical scriptures and deuterocanonical scriptures.
