Thomas Scheitlin

Thomas Scheitlin (born June 20, 1953 ) is a Swiss politician . He belongs to the party FDP. The Liberals .

Life

In 1980 Scheitlin received a degree from the University of St. Gallen (lic. Oec. HSG) and in 1998 he successfully completed further training with the Advanced Executive Program at the Swiss Banking School. After working in the private sector, he was the full-time president of the local community of St. Gallen from 2001 to 2006. In 2006 he was elected mayor of St. Gallen as the successor to Franz Hagmann . He has been re-elected three times since then, most recently in 2016. He is also a member of the St. Gallen Cantonal Council (Parliament) and the University Council of the University of St. Gallen, as well as President of the Board of Directors of Olma Messen St. Gallen . Scheitlin is married and has two children.
