Thomas Siemensen

Thomas Siemensen (* 1961 ) is a German comic artist .

Life

In 1980 Siemensen graduated from the AVS Itzehoe and began an apprenticeship as a retoucher . He completed his studies in communication design at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel in 1992 as a qualified designer. Today he lives with his family in Beringstedt.

Siemensen became famous for the Haiopeis , a comic series in black and white and comic strip style, whose comic protagonists are sharks and other sea creatures , which has appeared since 1991 . These drawings were originally made for a surf newspaper.

The surf newspaper came in after 3 strips published. The cartoon series "Haiopeis" has appeared regularly in TAZ Nord and soon in other newspapers since 1992. For the Hamburger Abendblatt, on the other hand, the series Ingo Pien, the Penguin was created , which, like the Haiopeis, soon appeared as anthologies. The episodes are also available as a wall calendar. Siemensen is also the creator of the "Gelos", the mascot of Pohl-Boskamp GmbH & Co. KG. In 1996, individual shark ice cartoons were produced as television clips that were shown on the children's channel. With over 220,000 copies of the Haiopeis series sold, Siemensen is one of the few comic artists in Germany who can make a living from their work.
