Thomas Slaney
Thomas Charles Slaney (* 1852 in Stoke-on-Trent , † 1935 ) was an English football coach and secretary.
Before serving as the coach of Stoke City , Slaney taught as a teacher at Saltley College until 1874 . In addition to his duties as a coach and secretary, he played as a captain in the team. In 1883 he resigned in favor of a career as a referee, which he began in 1885. Among other things, he supported the establishment of the Staffordshire Football Association.
