Thomas Wilke (born February 7, 1964 ) is a German biologist and professor for special zoology and biodiversity research at the University of Giessen .

Life

In 1989 Thomas Wilke graduated from the Humboldt University in Berlin with a degree in biology and was a doctoral candidate at the University of Potsdam from 1989 to 1992. From 2001 to 2003 he was Assistant Research Professor at George Washington University in Washington DC, Department of Microbiology and Tropical Medicine. Since 2004 he has been a professor and group leader in Giessen. Since 2012 he has been the dean of studies at the University of Giessen.

research

His main research interests are the influence of ecological changes on host-parasite systems, the eco-genetics of schistosomiasis in China, evolutionary strategies and phylogeny of higher gastropod groups, cryptic radiations and speciation processes in gastropods and the phylogeography of selected migratory birds in Australia and South America.
