Thomas Young (Archbishop)
Thomas Young (* 1507 ; † June 26, 1568 ) was Bishop of St Davids and Archbishop of York .
After his training in Oxford, he was first pastor in Llanfihangel Castell Gwallter before he was elected deacon to St David in 1547. There he stood in opposition to the incumbent bishop. He went into exile during Mary's reign . Little is known about his time in exile. On his return he was elected Bishop of St David. In 1561 he became Archbishop of York.
He was also President of the Council of the North . In this capacity he actively supported the concerns of Elizabeth I.
He was married and had a son. He died on June 26, 1568 and was buried in York Cathedral.
