Thomas Zellweger

Thomas Markus Zellweger (born October 25, 1974 ) is a Swiss economist and professor for corporate management with a special focus on family businesses at the University of St. Gallen .

Life

Thomas Zellweger studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen . After several years in Belgium, he received his doctorate in 2006, back in St. Gallen, followed by a cumulative habilitation in 2009. In 2011, he became a full professor at the University of St. Gallen and executive director of the Swiss Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (KMU-HSG) of the University of St. Gallen, which he leads with Urs Fueglistaller and Isabella Hatak. He also heads the “Center for Family Business” there. Since February 2020 he has also been responsible for the Vice-Rector for Research.

Together with Isabella Hatak and Urs Fueglistaller , he organizes the biannual research conference “Rencontres de St-Gall”, founded in 1948.

Zellweger's research focuses on family businesses , succession issues in family businesses, emotional and socio-emotional values, and issues of entrepreneurial finance.

Thomas Zellweger is married and has two sons.
