Thorsten Knauth

Thorsten Knauth (* 1964 ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

He studied Protestant theology, educational science , literature and linguistics in Marburg , Freiburg im Breisgau and Hamburg (1986-1992). He had a scholarship from the University of Hamburg's graduate scholarship and was a research assistant in the research project: School, religion, teaching in a multicultural society characterized by economic and social disparities (1992-1995), teaching religion in secondary schools I and II the doctorate to Dr. phil. (December 13, 1995) he was the scientific coordinator of the Collaborative Research Center “Coping with Social Changes in Africa” (1995–1996). He was a research assistant at the Faculty of Education, Dept. of Religious Education: 1996–2002, teaching religious education in secondary I and secondary II. After his habilitation at the University of Hamburg (June 28, 2001), he held a substitute professorship at the University of Hamburg (winter semester 2002 2003), PH Karlsruhe (summer semester 2003), University of Cologne (winter semester 2003/2004 - winter semester 2005/2006) and teaching assignment in Essen (winter semester 2004/2005, summer semester 2005). From 2006 to 2009 he was research manager and co-project leader of the European research project “Religion in Education. A contribution to Dialogue or a factor of Conflict in transforming societies of European Countries ”(REDCo). Since 2008 he has been teaching as a professor for Protestant theology / religious education at the Institute for Protestant Theology at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

His main research interests are qualitative-empirical research on religious education, interreligious and intercultural learning as well as dialogue approaches in educational science and religious education, the history and topicality of problem-oriented approaches in religious education, gender, religious education and religious education of diversity and religious education and inclusion.
