Thorsten Spürgin

Thorsten Spürgin (* 1960 ) is a German athlete and was German light heavyweight champion as an amateur boxer in 1984 and 1986 .

career

Spürgin fought for a long time for the SV Hamburg Police and was a member of the German national team in his weight class for several years. He celebrated his greatest successes at BSK 27 Ahlen eV in the first German Bundesliga in amateur club boxing, where he was German champion several times with the team.

Others

On October 15, 1990, Spürgin was hit by a car driving at excessive speed while riding a bicycle and was seriously injured. After several weeks of coma and paralysis on one side, he trained himself again, ran a marathon and won five German championship titles in disabled sports on the track in the time trial on the bike.
