Thorwald Veneberg (born October 16, 1977 ) is a former Dutch cyclist and later national coach.

Career

Veneberg was Dutch U23 champion in 2000 and was subsequently signed to Rabobank Team , where he drove throughout his career. His greatest success achieved Veneberg in 2005 when he won the semi-classic Grote Scheldeprijs in the sprint against Tomas Vaitkus , with whom he ran away was. He contested the Giro d'Italia twice and finished it once; the Vuelta a España he finished in all three participations.

After the team management did not want to extend his contract beyond 2006, Veneberg sued against the limitation of his employment contract. His lawsuit was dismissed in late 2007. The judge said Veneberg had a clearly performance-related contract. This is "the harsh reality in top-class sport."

In 2009 Veneberg became the coach of the Dutch U23 and junior road cycling team.
