Thunder and Lightning

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thunder and Lightning was an American blues rock band from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

history

The main functionaries of the band were on the one hand John Cipollina , who was already known to many as the lead guitarist of Quicksilver Messenger Service , he also played the lead guitar at Thunder and Lightning , and Nick Gravenites , who took over the vocals and the rhythm guitar. There were also various bassists and drummers in the band, who changed often, one of their bassists was Al Staehely . The band basically emerged from a long-term collaboration between Cipollinas and Gravenites, who toured under various band names, but mainly as the Gravenites-Cipollina band . Together they recorded some records, which are now also available on CD. Their collaboration did not bring them much success, and their solo projects were both moderately successful. Nevertheless, they are considered to be very influential and are valued by other musicians, not only from the blues scene.
