Q68.4 Congenital curvature of the tibia and fibula
ICD-10 online (WHO version 2019)

The very rare congenital tibia recurvata ( Latin crus valgum et recurvatum , English posterior medial bowing of the tibia ) represents a rare malposition of the lower leg with recurvation and valgus position . In contrast to the crus varum et antecurvatum , which often leads to congenital tibial osteoarthritis and requires surgical treatment, the tibia recurvata has a good prognosis and largely regresses spontaneously. However, a leg shortening, a hook foot position and possible growth retardation of the lower leg usually remain .

causes

The cause is not yet known.

Tibia recurvata Crus valgum et recurvatum

diagnosis

The main symptom is recurvation with valgus deviation and (optional) leg shortening of the lower leg, the diagnosis is made by means of an X-ray . The course with spontaneous degrees confirms the diagnosis.

treatment

A primary treatment is not necessary due to the spontaneous course, the leg length difference due to the shortened lower leg requires an operative correction depending on the extent, see there .
