Animal rescue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under animal rescue measures refers to the technical or medical assistance, which is capable to rescue animals in distress or life-threatening situations. Depending on the situation, it can be carried out with simple technical aids, but also with a great deal of effort by resources and forces.

Technical assistance

Some fire brigades in large cities, such as the Hanover fire brigade , have special vehicles for animal rescue.

The technical assistance includes:

  • Trapping runaway pets or exotic animals (e.g. snakes)
  • Rescuing animals that have climbed to heights and no longer manage to descend using portable ladders or turntable ladders
  • Relocating protected wasp nests , hornet nests and colonies of bees , or catching swarms of bees.
  • Lifting injured horses and cows using lifting gear as a turntable ladder or crane
  • Rescue animals that have broken into the ice or frozen waterfowl with life-saving equipment such as multi-purpose boats , ice sleds or Hansa boards
  • Free animals from sewers, pipes and other cavities

Medical assistance

The simplest option is to take the animal to a veterinarian or veterinary clinic . The latter often offer 24-hour standby.

In some large cities and areas of Germany, animal rescue services are available that are run by animal shelters or other animal protection associations.

For the first aid of your own pet, courses for first aid on animals are offered, these mainly focus on first aid for dogs or cats.
